About Us

Innovative Wastewater Solutions, Inc. (IWS,Inc.) was founded and formed by partners, Kevin Davis and Kenton Brotherton. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with BS degree in Agriculture with a Major in Plant and Soil Science (’98). Kenton is also a graduate from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Degree in Agriculture with a Major in Environmental and Soil Science (’04). Kenton also has a Master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Biosystems Engineering (’07).‍

Both partners completed a 3-year apprenticeships with TDEC approved soil consultants after college. Kevin was certified as a soil scientist with TDEC in 2001 and Kenton was certified in 2010. Both were licensed in 2009 when TDEC adopted a Soil Scientist Licensing Program. In 2013, they saw the need to incorporate to offer more services to their clients. As a result, Innovative Wastewater Solutions, Inc. (IWS, Inc.) was launched in 2014.

The permitting process can be confusing and complex. We can make this process faster and less stressful by completing a complete design packet as a Third Party Consultant.   • TDEC needs a detailed soil map to determine the suitability of the soil. TDEC is not comfortable with approving or denying the septic application without this detailed soil map.

  • You need a High Intensity Soil Map to determine suitability of the site
  • Since we do not write the permits, we cannot comment on the number of bedrooms or house
  • We can generally say whether the site will support a septic system

  • The High or Extra High Intensity Soil Map on file with TDEC shows that the soil unit or area in question needs percolation tests to determine the suitability.

  • Unfortunately, we are not the permit writers, TDEC is the regulatory authority.
  • We supply the map or information that is needed for TDEC to determine approval or denial of the septic permit.
